Valet Training Procedure

Steps for onboarding and training new valets

Scope

This procedure applies to any individual who is conducting training of a newly hired waste valet.

Waste Valet training consists of two training days. At least one day must be conducted by a member of upper management (i.e., Area Supervisor or above).

Procedure

The steps are as follows:

  1. 1Show how to enter the property and where the job box is located
  2. 2Educate worker on how to prepare for collection (Spray bottle w/ Odoban, gloves, bags, barrels, trailer, compactor keys)
  3. 3Walk along side worker for a minimum of 3 buildings
  4. 4Educate worker on policy of top to bottom floor path
  5. 5Educate worker on waste transfer (Directly from tote to barrel)
  6. 6Educate worker on the application of sanitizing spray via spray bottle
  7. 7Educate worker on tote break down procedure (Clips, then zipper, then hang on door with zipper side to the door, tote swung inside door frame)
  8. 8Once worker is fully competent, then begin to split buildings with worker.
  9. 9Be sure to point out landmarks or any property characteristics to help the worker remember the route and describe the different types of building layouts (If applicable)
  10. 10Once collection is complete, educate worker on our final procedures to complete the shift

Repeat these steps for day 1 & 2

After Training

  1. 1After the second day of training is complete, pull up onboarding documents and verbally read the Standard Operating Procedure for the Waste Valet Role as well as the Expected Conduct. Ensure the worker fully understands the standards of our company.
  2. 2Once the second day of training is complete and you are certain the worker will continue on in the position, then issue out uniform shirts.
  3. 3Lastly, contact Cheyanne and notify her that the worker is ready for onboarding.
